Who should attend? Staff and volunteers who have specialist child protection responsibilities and/or involvement in multiagency safeguarding assessment, planning and responses.
Why should they attend? Working together to safeguard children is everyone’s responsibility. The training will enable participants to understand and perform their safeguarding responsibilities.
What are the learning objectives? By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Develop knowledge of the key laws and guidance which underpin safeguarding duties.
- Develop knowledge of the different types of abuse and neglect children might experience.
- Develop skills to recognise signs of abuse and neglect, and to respond to disclosures.
- Develop skills to respond, including using the signs of safety framework and threshold document to guide what level of response is needed.
- Develop knowledge of the importance, and challenges, of multiagency working based on learning from reviews.
- Develop confidence in overcoming these challenges and build confidence to exercise professional challenge and escalation.
- Develop knowledge of the different roles and responsibilities across multiagency working.
- Develop knowledge of local Lambeth pathways for reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns.
How is the course delivered? This is a free full-day course delivered by an LSCP trainer. Both in person and online options are available.
