Detail:
Who should attend? Staff and volunteers who have specialist child protection responsibilities and/or involvement in multiagency safeguarding assessment, planning and responses.
Why should they attend? National learning has highlighted how practitioners can struggle to recognise signs and indicators of child sexual abuse. The training will help participants to recognise the signs and develop their skills to provide responses which reduce harm to children.
What are the learning objectives? By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Develop an up-to-date knowledge base on sexual abuse, based on studies, research and effective practice.
- Develop professional confidence and skillset in detecting and responding to child sex abuse.
- Develop knowledge of how perpetrators operate and how abuse occurs.
- Develop knowledge of why children and young people have difficulty disclosing the abuse and the impact of sexual abuse on children and young people.
- Develop knowledge of the non-abusing carers response to the abuse.
- Develop skills to intervene with children who have, or may have, been sexually abused.
How is the course delivered? This free full-day course is delivered by an independent trainer and there are both in-person and online options.
