Who should attend? Staff and volunteers who have specialist child protection responsibilities and/or involvement in multiagency safeguarding assessment, planning and responses.
Why should they attend? Learning from local reviews indicates a need for more consistent trauma-informed approaches to children. This training will help participants develop understanding of the impact of trauma and how to support children and families who have experienced trauma.
What are the learning objectives? By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Develop knowledge of the impact of trauma and PTSD on the body, beliefs and communities.
- Develop basic knowledge of attachment theory and the impact of this for the child.
- Gain a basic understanding of transference and counter transference, and the impact of this.
How is the course delivered? This is a free half-day course is delivered by the Barnardo's TIGER Service and is an in-person only event.
