Who should attend? This course is aimed at head teachers, safeguarding leads, school attendance officers, school governors, social workers, early help practitioners, health professionals and police.

Why should they attend? Children have a right to efficient, suitable and full-time education and children are safer in education. The training will help participants to understand how educational neglect occurs and what action is needed in response.

What are the learning objectives? By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Develop knowledge of Human and Child rights to education.
  • Develop knowledge of the Education Act 1996.
  • Develop knowledge of the definitions of neglect/ educational neglect.
  • Develop skills to formulate a professional opinion on neglect.
  • Develop knowledge of factors which contribute to neglect.
  • Develop skills to consider educational neglect in assessments.

How is the course delivered? This is a free 2 hour course delivered by Lambeth's Education Welfare Service. The course is online only. Please ensure you have access to Microsoft Teams before booking.
