Who should attend? Staff and volunteers who have specialist child protection responsibilities and/or involvement in multiagency safeguarding assessment, planning and responses.

Why should they attend? Safeguarding is a difficult topic and can often involve difficult and uncomfortable conversations with parents, carers and other professionals. The training will help participants develop the skills to manage these conversations well in order to build positive relationships to better manage safeguarding responses.

What are the learning objectives? By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Develop knowledge of factors that can adversely impact difficult conversations and skills to spot the signs of a badly managed conversation.
  • Develop understanding of the benefits and importance of managing these conversations well.
  • Develop knowledge of the key principles underlying how to approach difficult conversations.
  • Build skills and confidence in managing difficult conversations well using case studies.
  • Develop skills and good practice approaches to facilitating these conversations.

How is the course delivered? This is a free 2.5 hour course delivered by an LSCP trainer. The course is online only. Please ensure you have access to Microsoft Teams before booking.
