Who should attend? For all practitioners and professionals who are working with Lambeth Children’s Social Care to safeguard and support children and young people where there are concerns about their safety, well-being or belonging.
Why should they attend? Signs of Safety is now the practice model in Lambeth Children’s Social Care. The approach is adaptable and used across all service areas in Children’s Social Care, from the front door through to children looked after and care leavers. It is important that Lambeth’s partner agencies understand the new ways of working with children, young people and their families, which is built upon a collaborative and respectful approach.
What are the learning objectives? By the end of the course, delegates will:
- Understand the practice principles and skills of the Signs of Safety, Wellbeing and Success approach when working with children, young people and their families.
- Understand the Signs of Safety risk assessment framework, and Signs of Safety trio (danger statement, safety goal and scaling question) to support collaborative work with families as part of a professional network, and help inform effective referrals into Children’s Social Care.
- Gain knowledge of some direct work tools that help explore the thoughts and wishes of the children and young people so that the child’s voice is at the centre of all professional’s work when considering their safety, wellbeing or success.
How is the course delivered? This free half-day workshop is delivered by Lambeth Children’s Social Care Academy and is in-person only.
